Hi,
I created this site with ErlyWeb: http://vimagi.com.
The number of public ErlyWeb sites just went up by 100%. (Maybe
Beeriot and vimagi should integrate, so Beeriot users could paint
their favorite beers on Vimagi )
I'll appreciate any feedback.
Cheers,
Yariv

Cute site, seems pretty fast too. The recaptcha use is cool
What's the hardware used to host this like?

Vish

I like it. It's fun. Like the potential that Paintbrush never had,
but desperately needed.
You should link up to Facebook and compete with Graffiti. They took
off like crazy. Just find one thing they don't have and you're in. I
see you've got your own form of networking going on, though.
Anyway, welcome to the club.

Heh, I actually started working on Vimagi before Graffiti came out.
Then I stopped working on it for a few months, and only lately decided
to go back and finish it. I like Facebook Graffiti, but in Facebook
you can only share your paintings with your Facebook friends. I wanted
to build something more open -- think Graffiti meet YouTube. The
social networking features in Vimagi are more incidental than in
Facebook. They enhance the site, but they aren't the main focus.
I would like to add Facebook integration to Vimagi, but with Graffiti
being so popular the market may already be saturated. Plus, I'm not
looking to get too many users right away -- I won't be able to handle
it. I'm just doing it for fun right now
This is a fun little club to be in
Cheers,
Yariv

did you create those thumb nails in erlang, if so what erlang image
library did you use? I read some where that erlang is not so good at
file i/o and image processing.

I used os:cmd() to call imagemagick executables. Yes, spawning OS
processes is heavy, but it doesn't happen often, and premature
optimization is the root of all evil

there is also http://code.google.com/p/erlmagic/, which seems to make
it very easy to access imagemagick form erlang. Anybody using that ? I
took a quick look at the sorce code, and I could not understand how it
works. There is some c++ code there, but it doesn't seem to be neither
a port driver nor a c-node, more something which creates scripts which
get processed by immagemagick.
(and just in case anybody doesn't know it yet, there is also my own
cairo c-node: http://code.google.com/p/erlycairo for super fast PNG
image creation)
Yariv, I just did my first vimagi painting, great app,
congratulations, but how do you get a PNG out of the flash movie ? Do
you upload the RGB bitmaps and convert it to PNG at serverside, do you
convert it to PNG with Actionscript (there was once such a function
posted by Tinic Uro / Adobe and also by Mario Klingennmann, just found
that via google while typing this post: http://www.quasimondo.com/archives/000645.php)
Or do you use another, even smarter approach ? Just curious ...
regards
Roberto

I thed code from this
blog:http://weblogs.macromedia.com/cantrell/archives/2006/08/actionscript_pn.cfm.
It encodes the raw bitmap data into PNG in the flash player and sends
the PNG to the server. All I had to do was port it to haXe
