As promised, I have started working on the first wiki page for ErlyWeb
beginners. Also as promised, I have started with the installation
instructions.
Would someone who knows what their doing check this page:
http://code.google.com/p/erlyweb/wiki/InstallingErlyWebOnMacOSX
and confirm the style and approach are ok? It's currently light on
chat and more just a list of instructions. I'll flesh out some extra
narrative when I know the instructions are right.
I have the install instructions for Erlang and Yaws, but once I get
those confirmed, I'll start with the newbie questions on installing
ErlyWeb.
Thanks,
Simon

not only does it look good, but its exactly what I was doing today and
is great confirmation for my erlang install on leopard.
Also, I think this wiki post answers the question about what to do
about a wiki for erlyweb.org. The answer is we already have a wiki,
and a discussion group, and an svn repo...
thanks, Jon

Thank you.
I am working on the ErlyWeb install portion now. Between my day job
and the pastoring I have very little free time, but what I have I will
use to get ErlyWeb installed and working and document the process.

I'm actually thinking the same thing about the Wiki. The Google code
certainly good enough and it solves the spam problem. I was thinking
about porting the main ErlyWeb docs (not the api docs, just the main
page) to the wiki so it can be easily extended by other people. If
anybody is interested in this, please let me know.

I have added the next portion of the installation instructions. This
section covers installing ErlyWeb. Could someone please review it and
check it for correctness. I know it works on my machine but that could
be by accident.
A couple of questions to help me know what to work on next.
1. Should I walk the reader through a full compile of ErlyWeb? This
would eliminate any version dependencies, but is obviously an added
complexity.
2. Is the original Music tutorial still correct and a good place to
move to after the install?
3. Are there any volunteers to create either standalone versions of
the install page for different operating systems or who can add extra
guidance for those unlucky enough to be using something other than a
Mac?
Thanks.
Sorry for the time this is taking, but as I explained before the two
jobs are hampering my efforts! (And Christmas is a busy time for we
pastors anyway!

Agreed.
Now, does anyone have any guidance for compiling ErlyWeb? It was
mentioned in an earlier thread, so I'll dig back and see what I can
find there.

All you have to do is edit Emakefile to make sure the first line
points at your Yaws directory, and then execute "make".

Is there a way that is less prone to human error? Perhaps a way to
programatically discover where Yaws is installed? After all if Yaws is
a dependency, then it should already be installed.

Unless I'm missing something, I don't think there is a way to
parameterize the Emakefile. Does anyone if I'm missing something?
