I've seen a native PostgreSQL driver for Erlang on the Erlang Consulting website...is there an equivalent native Oracle driver? I've seen a lot of complaints about issues with unixODBC and sooner or later our app will need to talk to Oracle somehow...
thanks |

There is no native Oracle driver for erlang. Apparently nobody wanted it bad enough to code in C...
We are using ODBC. It works, but we are just accessing one table. Hint: there exists an ODBC driver by Oracle, you don't have to buy a third-party driver.
Our plan B was to create a Java/JDBC port program. We used this approach to make erlang talk to IBM WebSphere MQ.

Yeah, I dont think thats gonna work in my case. I would also really need a native Oracle driver for erlan...
Demand wasn't high enough? I think there are loads of cases where this would be so helpful. Wouldnt have to think of a hundred ways around it and then around the problems it creates. |

| I totally endorse the view that it is high time that had a native Oracle driver for Erlang!! Maybe it wasn’t required earlier but with the users having so many complaints and issues with unixODBC as rightly observed here, I think native drivers for Oracle would be the ideal credentials solution!! |
