I have installed Yaws 1.88 on a Windows Vista system. And I want to edit yaws.conf and change the default port 8080. But I am prevented to save yaws.conf after edit. I have not started Yaws, and there is no process that has a lock on the file and I am logged in as Administrator. The file is not write protected, but the Yaws directory was, but if I change that, it is still not possible to edit yaws.conf.

Any suggestions on how I can edit yaws.conf?

That is weird. Here are a few things to try. Click on the file in
explorer and copy then paste it to the desktop and try and edit/save
the file on the desktop. When done try dragging the file back and
overwrite the old one.

If that doesn't work - how about opening the file, copy the text, open
another text editor - paste in the text and save it to yaws.conf on
your desktop and rename the un-editable one to yaws1.conf and
copy/move the desktop version to the same location as yaws1.conf.

Have you tried different editors, wordpad, notepad, some other text editor?
